Bubble down

Message from Park City Pickleball Club President Joe Plomin:

I was at the Recreation Advisory Board meeting [on March 5] and MARC management gave an update on current status. Unfortunately, not so encouraging. The bubble suffered two tears to the surface – one of them close to 50 feet long. As many of you know, the windstorm caused a power outage in the area. It’s possible the bubble’s backup generator worked to inflate the bubble as it sank but the size of hole prevented this from happening. That is one theory at the moment. The bubble is covered in snow and at this point the MARC is unable to make any evaluation of the overall condition of the bubble and the items inside, including tennis and pickleball nets and lighting.

My humble opinion is there is good chance we don’t see the bubble in operation the balance of this winter.

I’ll keep you posted as we learn more.  Feel free to send me a note if you are looking for play options at the different indoor locations around the area.

Update from Park City MARC: “The city is working through the insurance process which has made it challenging to provide a precise timeline for a solution. Our team is doing everything possible to expedite the process, but until a determination is made, we are forced to cancel all existing court reservations in the bubble through March 27. While we cannot confirm that the bubble will reopen by then, we are committed to reassessing the situation at that time and providing another status update to our patrons.”
